Student loan forgiveness programs…

So.  Applications are in.  FAFSA is in.  60% of the financial aid forms I need to fill out are in.  I just ended sentences with prepositions.

I am now starting to think seriously about how I am going to take out my loans. The government Stafford loans will provide $20,500 in loans annually.  This is the first stop on the loan train.  I did learn from my FAFSA that I am eligible to take these loans.  Yay!  I had figured my other loans would be private, although I had heard of Graduate PLUS loans.  These loans are essentially private loans guaranteed by the government.

Anyway, one big plus of taking a federal loan is that it makes you eligible for loan forgiveness.  As I do plan on working for a non-profit once I graduate, I have looked into student loan forgiveness.  It is something based upon income based repayment.

This is part of my Grad School series
